Wednesday Night Game 5/31/06

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Well the rains came to Austin tonight and so we were rained out…make up date to be announced later.

Monday Night Game 5/29/06

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Well the HCO team spent the Memorial Day holiday with a little grill and the intention to play a little ball.  But unfortunately because of the holiday our opponents were unable to field a team and so we got the win 7-0 via forfeit.  That moves the Monday night team to 3-0 on the young season.

Thursday Night Game 5/25/2006

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

It was a dark, and stormy night…well actually it was perfectly sunny and hot day at the ball field this night and the team had to sweat out a particularly ugly game.

The final score was 32-12 but did feature a nice 8 run 2 out rally in the last inning.

Monday Night Game 5/22/06

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

The Monday night team headed back to the field after a pregame bit of drinking at the local Chuy’s.  It was also a special night as Sharon came back to our team after taking a bit of a hiatus to train for a triathalon.

So the first inning saw us jump out to a quick 4-0 lead as the visiting team.  In the both half of the inning we had a defensive gem of an inning and kept our 4 run lead.  The second half saw us plate 3 more runs and we finally gave up our first runs of the game but had a 7-2 lead.

The third was another good inning as we plated 3 more runs and gave up only 2 to extend our lead to 10-4.  In the fourth inning we scored a couple more runs and only gave up one to get the score to 12-5.  The fifth inning was the final inning of the game as we continued to hit and won the game by a final of 14-8.

Thursday Night Game 5/18/06

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Well the Thursday night team took the field for its second game and had things going well early…until late one inning…

The first inning was a good one for us as we plated 2 runs and held our opponents to 1 run to take a quick lead.  The second inning saw us plate another run, and we gave up 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score at 3-3.

The third inning is where the wheels started to fall off for us.  In the top half of the inning we were held scoreless, and then we gave up 13 in the bottom half of the inning and that was pretty much it.  The final score was 19-4.

Wednesday Night Game 5/17/2006

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

The game got off to a rough start for our team tonight, but we managed to make it a good game. In the top of the first we went 3 up 3 down and then gave up 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The second inning saw us graduate to get some baserunners on but we failed to push any runners across. The defense kept us in the game, allowing only one run and we were only down 3-0.

In the third, we graduated to runs as we put up a 7 run inning to take our first lead of the game. The defense held in the bottom of the inning and after 3 innings the score was 7-3. In the fourth, neither team scored and then in the fifth we managed to work around another run to push our lead to 5, but in the bottom half of the inning we gave up 4 to make the score 8-7.

The sixth saw us go scoreless again, and after our opponents scored 4 runs we were down 11-8 going into the seventh and final inning. We worked our bats in the seventh to tie the game at 11 when the go ahead run was thrown out at home. But the comeback was not meant to be tonight as our opponents managed to score a run in the bottom of the 7th to win the game 12-11.

Monday Night Game 5/15/06

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

Well after a rainout last week, the Monday night team finally got onto the field to start the Summer I season.

We were the visiting team and started off with a bang, scoring 4 runs.  A defensive gem in the bottom half of the inning made the score 4-1 after the first inning.  In the 2nd inning we were able to stretch the lead a bit to 6-1 after 2 innings.

The third inning saw the bats continue to ring, as we put up two more runs, and a third straight defensive gem, giving up only 1, making the score 8-2.  In the fourth, we put up another 4 runs to push the lead to 12-2.  The defensive effort kept up in the bottom half of the inning as we gave up no runs and had an eight run lead with about 3 minutes left.

In the fifth inning, we score another 2 runs and had a 14-2 lead before our opponents found their stroke.  We gave up 8 runs in the bottom half of the inning but held on for a 14-10 win.

Thursday Night Game 5/11/06

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

So the Thursday Night team hit the field for its first game of the season.  This is an all guys team as opposed to a co-rec team like Monday and Wednesday night.

The first inning wasn’t a great inning as we gave up 5 runs in the top half of the inning and managed to get only 2 runs in the bottom half.  The top half of the second was similar to the first and we were down 10-2.  Then the bats came alive as we managed to bat around and then some and put up 10 runs to take a 12-10 lead.

In the third inning the high powered offense energized our defense and we held our opponents scoreless.  In the bottom half of the third we managed to plate two more runs to extend our lead to 14-10.  In the fourth, we managed another steller defensive inning, plated 4 more runs of our own and had an 18-10 lead.  In the fifth inning we started giving up runs again but held the damage to 3 runs and had an 18-13 lead.  We added another run in the bottom of the fifth as time ran out to win the game 19-13.

Wednesday night Game 5/10/06

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Ok so this was not our best night as we couldn’t hit worth a (string of explicatives omitted for the sake of those easily offended).  We lost 16-1 and that is really all everyone needs to know…

Wendesday Night Game 5/3/06

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Well ok its been a while since I updated this thing, so I apologize for the gap, I promise it won’t happen again.

So the Wednesday night team took to the field to start the Summer I season.  The first inning was not a typical HCO first inning of a season as we took a 2-0 lead.  The second inning was another good inning as we extended our lead out to 5-2.  The third inning was another good inning as we extended our lead to 7-3.

The fourth inning saw things get a little tighter as the lead was sliced to 8-6.  The fifth inning was the final inning as time ran out and our opponents managed to plate 3 runs and win the game 9-8.
