Den of Swine Game 4/25/07

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Due to Central Texas rains, the DoS had to play one final game to wrap up their spring season.  A 4 run rally in the top of the 5th wasn’t enough as the team fell 14-12.  We jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead after an inning and a half but our opponents put together a furious rally to tie the game at 7.  After the first two innings our bats went cold as we scored only 1 run the next two innings.  Our opponents slowly pulled away opening up a 14-8 lead.  Our last inning rally fell 2 runs short, resulting in the final 14-12 score.

That puts our season record at 4-4 and tied for second.

Up Dawg Games 4/23/07

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Due to extensive Central Texas rains, the Up Dawg team had to play a double header to wrap up their Spring Season.

The first game was critical to our final standings as a win would guarantee us a second place finish.  The team responded with one of their best defensive games of the season resulting in a 9-3 win.  The game feature great fielding by the entire team, highlighted by Michael throwing a batter out at first base on a shallow fly.  We jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead after the second inning and kept taking on to our lead every inning.

In the second game, we played the first place team who was yet to lose a game this season.  Unfortuantely, despite a great effort including a 3 run 6th to tie the game, we lost 10-9.  That wraps the season up at 4-4 (1 game not played this season due to rain) but thanks to the first game win we won the tie braker over the other team in second.

Den of Swine Game 4/17/07

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

I am a bit late on this one, but we lost this game 20-8.  We managed to pull within 11-8 before our opponents put up 9 runs to put the game out of reach.

Den of Swine Game 4/11/07

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

Thanks to a run 7th, the Den of Swine managed to claw out a 11-8 win in their latest game.

The game started a bit slow as we were only able to score 1 run in the first inning and gave up 3 in the bottom half of the inning.  The next two innings were quiet for both teams as hitters were up and down quickly as the score became 5-2.  The fourth inning saw us tie the game at 5 as the bats started to come to life as our defense held our opponents scoreless.  In the fifth we upped our lead to 6-5 and continue to keep our opponents from crossing the plate.

The sixth saw us extend our lead to 3 and again hold our opponents scoreless heading into the 7th and final inning.  We padded our lead with another 3 runs to take an 11-5 lead, and those 3 runs would be critical to our win as we gave up 3 in the bottom half of the seventh which made the final score 11-8.

Up Dawg Game 4/2/07

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Thanks to a huge last inning rally the Up Dawg team got back to their winning ways with a 16-15 extra innings victory.  The game started as a defensive struggle with the the opponents score 2 runs an inning for the first 3 innings and us only scoring 1 run in the first two, making the score 6-2.  In the fourth, the bats started to pickup for both teams.

Our opponents scored 5 but we could only answer back with 3 making the score 11-5.  We managed to hold them scoreless in the fifth but could only score 1 run of our own in the bottom of the inning.  In the sixth we gave up 4 more runs and entered the bottom half of the inning with no time left and a 15-6 deficit.  Everyone hit and nearly everyone scored in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 15.

The game went into extra innings, which is played on the one-pitch rules.  Our defense held in the top half of the seventh meaning we needed only 1 run to win the game.  After a couple of outs, we were down to our last chance with Jason on first and Mike up to bat.  Mike hit a great shot to center to give Jason a chance to score but he was tagged out at home.  But, the opponents third baseperson was on the third base without a play to be made resulting in a call of interference, making Jason safe at home and giving us the win 16-15.

Den of Swine Game 3/28/07

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

The Wendesday night team lost a heartbreaking game 7-6 after a week long break thanks to more rain.

The game was a defensive struggle from the outset, with a 1-0 score for our opponents after the first inning.  After the second inning the score was 2-1 and the third inning saw us fall further behind at 3-1.  The fourth inning we were held scoreless again and fell a bit further behind at 5-1.  In the fifth we finally found our bats a bit and managed to score two runs and after giving up one in the bottom half of the inning, we were down 6-3.

In the 6th inning the bats continue to ring and we plated three to tie the score at 6 with no time on the clock.  Out opponents got runners to 2nd and 3rd with no outs and then a deep flyball sealed the game as a 7-6 loss for the DoS.

Up Dawg Game 3/19/07

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

After a rained out Spring Break week, Up Dawg went to the field to resume their Spring season.  But the other team didn’t bother to show up, so we won via forfeit.  I’m sorry but there is just no way I can make a forfeit exciting or interesting!
