Yes, a real game update.  The Den of Swine took to the field after missing last weeks game due to more wet weather in Austin.  A 6 run bottom of the fifth time expiring rally capped off an exciting 11-10 come from behind victory.

As the home team, we took the field first as the lightning and thunder boomed around us and gave up only one run in the first inning when yours truly completly lost a long fly ball.  We answered in the bottom of the first with 2 runs of our own to take our first lead at 2-1.  We had a good defensive inning in the 2nd holding our opponent scoreless as Devin (our subsititute for Jeff) came through with a homerun to extend our lead to 3-1.  In the third our opponents did plate 2 runs to tie the game up at 3 but we answered back with 2 more runs of our own to take a 5-3 lead.

The fourth was our bad inning as we gave up 7 runs to find ourselves behind 10-5 after we were unable to score in the bottom half of the inning.  We did put up another good defensive inning in the 5th but were still down 5 runs as we came up to bat with about 5 minutes to go. Devin and Denise came through with clutch signals and then Albrey struck a homerun that cut the deficit to 2.  After Sandra walked, yours truly came up with his one good hit of the season that resulted in the second home run of the inning and a tied score, with less than 2 minutes left. 

Kate got onto first with a signle which Jason then followed up with a double to put the winning run at 3rd base with no time left on the clock.  Cindy hit a long drive that gave us the win as Kate scored the game winning run. 

The win was Den of Swine’s first win of the season, but we have had as many rainouts (3) as games at this point, so this season could very well be, well a wash…

Ok, so thanks to one of the rainest summer’s in Austin’s history I have been a little late in updating the blog, mainly due to erratic game schedules.  Here is a breif recap of the Summer I season:  The Up Dawg team finished 5-0 to win the championship in their league.  The Den of Swine team finished 5-1 in their league to finish 2nd.

Now as for Summer II, I am no longer playing on Monday night due to my officiating classes.  I am still playing Wednesday night which has been another rainout fest as we have only managed to play 2 of our first 5 games.  Both games were 1 run losses, one 8-7 the other 11-10.
