Up Dawg Winter Week 3

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Fueled by two inning in which the team batted around, the Up Dawg team rode a 27-6 victory to a 3-0 record to end 2007.  The first inning got off on the right note as we put up 5 runs to start the game.  We gave up 3 in the bottom half of the inning to cut our lead to 2 but that is as close as it would get.  In the second inning we batted around putting up 9 runs to extend our advantage to 14-3.  The third inning was fairly quiet as we were able to score only 3, but the defense held in the bottom half of the inning.  In the fourth we batted around for the second time in the game to extend our advantage to 27-3.  We gave up 3 in the bottom half of the inning as time expired for the final 27-6 margin.

Den of Swine Winter Week 1

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Den of Swine took the field for their first game of the winter season on a warm Friday night.  After one inning we found ourselves in a 7-2 hole.  We responded with 7 runs of our own to take the lead back at 9-7.  The lead held until the bottom of the 5th with the score 12-11 before we gave up 2 runs and fell 13-12.

Up Dawg Winter Week 1

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Up Dawg took the field for their first game of the winter season taking advantage of the Rec Dept.’s new regular winter pitch schedule.  It was a cold night but the bats were hot as we streaked out to a 15-7 win.  The game was broken open by a 7 run second inning that pushed the lead out to 11-2.  Despite giving up 3 in the last inning, the defense got the final out to preserve the 8 run victory.

There will be no game two post due to our opponent having to forfeit tonight’s game, so Up Dawg has started off the season 2-0.

Fall Update

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Ok so I have been a bit bad about updating these posts so here is a quick summary of the Fall seasons.  For the Up Dawg team, after 4 games their records stood at 2-2 and facing the only team in the league let to lose a game.  Thanks to an earlier rain out we played the team in back to back weeks.  The back to back games turned into back to back upset victories that propelled Up Dawg to a 4-2 three way tie.  All teams had the same record and were 2-2 against the other two teams, so it came down to the third tiebreaker, run differential.  Up Dawg had the best overall run differential of the three teams and so that gave the team the Fall title.

The championships weren’t done yet though.  The Den of Swine team got off to a hot start winning the first 3 games including an opening week 12-10 win.  In week 4, the Den of Swine lost in extra innings 13-12 to the team that we beat in week 1.  This turned out to be important because both teams finished with a 5-1 record in the league but because of the combined run differential of 1 Den of Swine took the title.

Den of Swine did elect to particpate in the Fall Tournament, but things did not go well as we lost 9-4 and 9-7 ending our day early.
